There are many chores that you have to do a little differently when you’re living or traveling in an RV. One of those tasks is doing laundry. If you don’t want to pack your entire wardrobe on the road, then you’ll have to wash the clothes you have. But how do you do that in an RV? We’ve got some tips to help you out.
Locate a Laundromat
If you can find a campground with laundry facilities or a laundromat in a local town, it may be worth spending a Saturday morning reading a book or playing a board game with your family while you do your laundry. Make sure that you have dryer sheets, laundry detergent (the new pod-type detergent is good for RV owners, because it’s lightweight and easy to carry), and plenty of quarters handy, along with baskets or bags to haul your clothes around.
Hand-Wash, Hang-Dry
With a bucket, some soap, and some warm water, you can do small amounts of laundry by hand. A small folding clothes rack can be put up outside of your RV in good weather to allow your laundry to air-dry in the sunshine. You could also invest in a small portable washing machine that lets you do loads of socks and underwear.
Install a Washer & Dryer
If your RV has the space for washer and dryer units, and you’ve got the budget, it may be worthwhile to simply invest in these machines, particularly if you’re living on the road full-time or traveling with a large family.
